On 1/14/2017 our family lost a great son, brother, nephew and good friend to many. Nathan had a passion for the community where he lived and loved to help others who were less fortunate. I am going to share some of his own words with this Gofundme, then I will share what we need to do next.
"We all die, we all have terrible years, we all have hard times. I'm trying to make my time worthwhile until the day comes. Don't regret what you didn't do in 2016. Keep that hunger. Keep that vision. One day can make all the difference in the world. We want things to be different then you make the difference. Giant things start with one person with a passion for seeing something different."
"I am so lucky to live in Clarkston. We have many things here that I love including the community center and the food bank. So much help is needed in this small town. What you do for others are the only things that matter.
Life is crazy and we need to learn when to stop and see where we are headed or else we will miss all the amazing turns that lead to new things. Today I am excited to see what comes my way. "
He desired each of us to move us out of our homes, out of our comfort zone and into our communities to truly make a difference. He often said, "water does not move until something or somebody does something...make waves." Nathan had a passion for the homeless and those who lacked the bare essentials of life and often tried to make a difference by feeding the hungry and attempting to meet them at one of their basic needs. He was one who didn’t respond out of guilt or convenience but a real desire to want to help.
Our goal is to raise funding in his name for the food bank and the community center here in Clarkston. I would like to present the Mayor of Clarkston, on behalf of Nathan Hall, a check for $25,000 for the community center and food bank. The center helps people learn to read and understand how to use a computer. The food bank provides hot meals for families in the community. He was passionate to help this community and I can't find any reason why this can't still be done. If we give to this fund we can make this possible, we can make this a reality.
