Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this story and for any help you can give. I am not one to ask for help, but my best friend, cousin, and the father of my two young god children (ages 6 months and 2 years), is in desperate need of your help.
This year has been especially hard on him and his family. In February, his wife, following a high risk pregnancy, gave birth to their second child, a young son, who needed an extended stay in the PICU, right after birth. Thankfully their young son is now a happy and healthy 6 month old bundle of joy.
This alone would have been challenging to manage financially, but like many he and his family was impacted by the Covid crisis and quarantine, and his hours as well as day care opportunities for their children disappeared overnight. With his wife out of work to care for their two young children and his hours drastically cut due to Covid, they had little choice but to use what little was left of their savings.
Things were just starting to look up as the state finally opened up, when Nathan was admitted to the hospital for Severe Liver Failure. In and out of the hospital several times now, we now know that he will need a liver transplant in the very near future. Additionally, working is really no longer a feasible option for him, because in his weakened state, not only is he not healthy enough to go back to work, but his job is one that required him to be around people, and any illness or infection he gets will likely just put him back into the hospital, or worse.
Add in that shortly after going in to the hospital, his wife and kids were in a car accident, thankfully no one was hurt, but their vehicle was totaled.
Nathan is now home and recovering from his 3 weeks in the hospital and out of work on disability, but having to cover the ridiculous cost of insurance for him and his family until such time as he can recover enough to go back to work or get on full time disability.
Please help me by helping him and his family with the money they will need for medical expenses and bills, so that they can focus on giving him the care he needs and keeping him alive and healthy until a donor can be found and not worrying about keeping food on the table and a roof over his head. Please, anything you can afford will make a huge impact in their lives and on keeping him alive long enough to get that transplant.
