Hi,
I'm Samantha.
On the night of Saturday April 27th, Nathan (my love) and I were enjoying our evening after celebrating Zoey Nathan's daughters birthday when we were informed by Nathan's daughter Aubrey that there was a police officer in our driveway. When we went out to investigate, we found officer Markey (badge number 331) was speaking with one of our family members who was a passenger in a friend's vehicle.
We both immediately started recording with our phones. Nathan and I informed the occupant's of the vehicle (one of which was my niece) that they did not have to give the officer any information. The officer told us to go back into the house, to which Nathan responded, “this is our private property” and that, he “could not give us unlawful commands.”
I could hear my niece informing the officer that his strobe lights were bothering her and could he please turn them off. While I advised her not to answer any questions, I could hear her state that the emergency lights were bothering her. Both Nathan and I also informed the officer that she had a medical condition - epilepsy.
Officer Markey responded that it was not an emergency and if needed he would call the ambulance from down the street – implying that, if he was the reason he threw her into an epileptic attack, they'd cross that bridge when they came to it. How is this “protecting and serving?”
The officer had already tried to order us back into our house for recording him and informing the occupants of the car that they did not have to answer any questions. Officer Markey also remarked that, if we stepped off of our lawn and onto our concrete driveway, we would be arrested! Needless to say, we couldn't believe our ears! Imagine someone who swore to protect and defend basic American rights, threatening to take all of them away for a simple, harmless action on one's own property!
While this scene unfolded, our son arrived home from work and I informed Officer Markey that I would be stepping onto my driveway to guide my son safely around this traffic “crime scene.” My son is fully aware that law enforcement agents have shown themselves to initiate great violence on those who step into their “authorized area.”
The officer once again said that I would be arrested if I stepped foot onto the concrete, but my mind was consumed with ensuring my son could safely navigate around an individual (the cop) who clearly revealed he had no respect for individual rights.
Although the other officer (McGuire badge #304) insisted otherwise, you can clearly see from the video that I walked in the opposite direction onto my driveway, AWAY from the traffic stop and toward the house in order to intercept my son.
As soon as I stepped foot onto my driveway the officer shouted to the other officers to have me arrested. I was placed in handcuffs and escorted to the back of the car. I was left there for a few minutes when an officer came and asked for my name. I invoked my right to remain silent under the 5th amendment. He then asked if I was going to provide my name to which I said “no.” A few minutes later another officer came and stated that I could either identify myself and be able to bond out in a couple hours or be booked as a Jane Doe and would sit in a cell until they could identify me and then bond out. I told the officer this is why people hate you; to which he responded, “you should have just been mature adults.”
They charged me with obstruction and booked me into jail. I was processed, finger printed, then had to sit in a holding cell for about two and a half hours before they put a 5k bond on me that I was lucky to be able to pay. It took about 24hrs for the marks on my wrists to go away from the tight cuffs
Bio
Nathan and Samantha are two of the most laid back, caring individuals you could ever meet. Complete opposites, they complement one another perfectly. Nathan is an Engineer for the Iowa Interstate Railroad where he has worked for almost six years. Samantha is a Special Education Teacher for a middle school in North Omaha, where she has been for the last 6 1/2 years. Together, they work hard to provide for their 7 children in their crazy, yet beautifully blended family.
We are currently searching for an attorney to represent not only Nathan and Samantha but all Americans and their freedoms. This is something that we all have to take a stand against to make a change and secure our rights!!!
All donations will be used for an attorney and court fees. When we get a better idea of all costs we will post bills and receipts that your generous donations will help us with.
