Let's be honest...sometimes when it rains, it pours and terrible things happen when we least expect it. It's also true that God is good and his mercies are new every morning. In the paragraphs that follow, I'd like to share some of the story of Nathan and Rhonda Emerson and I'm asking for your help in easing their burden however you feel led. For those of you who aren't interested (or who just don't have the attention span), I'll give you a cliffs notes version first.
Cliff Notes Version: Nathan got really sick then Rhonda got really sick....I'm talking like really, really sick. Then their finances got really sick...again, I'm talking like really, really sick. Now they need your help and we know that God is good and will lead them through this valley.
The Rest of the Story: (As told by Krystal Holder, Nathan's sister) Many of you may be aware that my brother Nathan has fought and won a battle against cancer TWICE. He's had several check-ups with MD Anderson in the last few years and both have come back cancer free. In the spring of this year; however, Nathan discovered that he needed to have a quadruple bypass. So, he did the thing and had the surgery and during the recovery afterwards, he developed an infection at the incision which led to sepsis (meaning the infection got into his blood stream) and he was required to be in the ICU for several days. He is now on the mend again and seems to be healing. But that's not the end of this story...
While Nathan was hospitalized for the infection in May, Rhonda collapsed in his room and it was discovered that she suffered a brain aneurysm which led to a stroke that caused severe complications. Since then, she has had to undergo intense physical therapy to regain muscle function and fine motor skills and has been in a rehab facility to regain skills that we all take for granted each day - like walking and speaking. But this also isn't the end of this story...
For the past 6 months, Rhonda's employment had continued which meant her benefits continued to cover the cost of her care as well, but as of the end of last month, her sick leave was all used up. This meant the loss of her income and her insurance benefits. Luckily, Nathan is still employed and was able to add her onto his insurance but the loss of wages and the additional cost of coverage has hit their financial situation hard in an already hard time.
Now, here we are in October of 2021 and it's looking like Rhonda may get to come home in the next couple of months. BUT, before she can come home, there's some major modifications we need to make to their living environment (think handicap accessible doors, bathroom facilities, bedroom, etc.).
In times of terrible situations, people always want to know how they can help. Here's where you come in -
1) Pray for healing and God's will in the lives of Nathan & Rhonda and their two boys - Garrett and Carter
2) Donate to this GoFundMe. It's managed by Krystal Holder and all funds will be used to help fund the things that they need
3) To avoid fees, you can send directly using V3nM0 to @ Krystal-Holder
