Hi, I am Roisin. I’m aunty to the loveliest and funniest boy Nathan. Nathan is a fun loving kid who loves doing boy stuff like riding bikes, playing games and being outdoors.
I want to raise some money to try and relieve some of the pressure Nathan, his older and younger siblings and my darling sister his mum Kerry are facing as of late since this terrible diagnosis.
Nathan turned 9 on October 5th this year. He had the best weekend with all his family celebrating before feeling really poorly at school on Monday and being sent home.
The following day he stayed off school still but struggled somewhat to walk a short distance so was soon off to the GP. GP was dissatisfied and hyper vigilant and immediately sent him to Edinburgh’s Sick Kids where he was soon diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
What a shock for all his family and friends and so soon after his birthday.
Nathans leukaemia is highly treatable and we are all desperate for the 2 1/2 years of treatment to be over so we can get back to being the fun loving family we are.
So far Nathan has endured countless procedures and treatments and has been discharged from hospital once only to be sent straight back with an infection which was very dangerous.
Nathan has an older sister Sophia and a younger brother Jayden who are missing him and their mum so much whilst she stays in hospital with him. They all go to different schools and are staying with different family members and friends which makes living their normal life more and more complicated.
I want to do this fundraiser to ease some of the pressure my sister Kerry is facing both emotionally and financially. Having to worry about money is the last thing she needs right now. She works as a trainee nursery practitioner and is studying too to qualify in this role. It’s currently impossible to do the work towards her qualification but her management staff and assessors are every bit supportive. She is still going to be off work for a period of time uncertain at the moment.
Currently lots of money is being spent in taxis to and from hospital as nathan is too vulnerable and often times weak to take the bus. There have been minor adjustments made at home for him to make sure he is always comfortable and has the easiest time he can in his happy place- his house.
I want to help make this horrible and scary situation lighter for my sister. I don’t want her forever worrying about the smaller things in life. Hospital life can be expensive! Yet she is always so strong and full of love for her special middle boy who is often times in so much pain and suffering terribly.
My sister is the most incredible, loving and selfless mum to her 3 kids. They are all so lucky to have one another.
We all believe that in time our wee Nathan will be back out on his bike and giving us all laughs but we are so aware of the long and hard battle he has. He is coping so well with his chemotherapy, born marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures and the plethora of medication he is taking to make him feel better.
thank you all so much for reading and if you can contribute at all to relieving some pressure on my lovely sister and her 3 kids at this time I would be forever grateful.
Sending all the love to everybody ♥️
