Nate was a horse who knew he was a big deal. What he probably never realized himself was the ripple effect that he had on Dr Shannon Reed and her life as a veterinarian and advocate for Thoroughbred aftercare. Through their partnership, Shannon became intimately involved with the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover and has been a driving force for increasing the health of horses and the education of veterinary students through this event. The Arrival Exams not only ensure that horses participating in the Thoroughbred Makeover are healthy and sound, but also allow students an unmatched ability to examine hundreds of horses in a short period. As we continue to try to highlight the joys of equine practice, this has become an especially meaningful event.
Nate crossed the rainbow bridge on 2/16/2024. To honor his legacy please consider donating. Funds will be used to support veterinary student participation in the arrival exams at RRP.
