Reminded once again how fragile life is. This weekend, we drove to Portland to do some riding, Nate Smith crashed in one of the jumps. He hit his head and was complaining about his stomach or ribs hurting. He sat for a few, but kept feeling dizzy, and was very pale. When the guys tried to help him up, he passed out, that's when I called 911, then rode with him to the hospital in the ambulance. The whole time, he was being very polite, but you could tell he was in terrible pain. They took him in, immediately gave him a scan and took him straight into surgery after seeing he was filling with fluid, had issues with both his liver and spleen. They took his shattered spleen out but his liver is good. He's out if surgery, I even got to speak to him last night. His wife, Bri Smith and his mom and aunt are now in portland with him, along with the OR guys.
Please keep the prayers coming. It's so hard watching the people you love go through something like this. It was hard being in the ambulance and not have my own thoughts talking me to my worst day. It is just hard. Life is hard, life is fragile.
Make sure your living the life you want to be, now, not later, show the people you love, your love, forgive easier and choose joy everyday. And please keep the Smith family in your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep updates here as I get them. This was written by Sandy Densmore the team captain
