Nate's Climb Back: Help Ease Medical Burden
Donation protected
On December 10th, my best friend, climbing and ski partner, and one of the most giving people I know had a life-changing event.
After completing a climbing route that has been a goal for a lifetime, Nate had a rappelling accident.
Nate fell ~80ft from the top of the decent and was able to grab the rope and somehow miraculously save his own life and not fall the entire 1200ft to the base of the climb.
Nate severely injured both ankles, including numerous torn ligaments and a broken calcaneus bone, in addition to a torn bicep.
He faces a long recovery and a significant financial burden to hopefully fully return to normal.
Both of his professions as an Emergency Department Nurse and as a Professional Ski Patroller require him to be able to stand, walk, and be physically able to perform his duties caring for others in need.
During this time of recovery, he will be unable to work either of his jobs to have an income.
Additionally, his wife is in between jobs after an acquisition saw her job downsized just before the accident. This is a very difficult time financially for Nate, his wife, and children.
Despite canceling two upcoming trips and moving those funds to cover as much as possible from this accident, medical bills are piling up.
This small climbing community has always seemed supportive of each other and close-knit. Let’s see if, as a community, we can step up and help one of our own during a difficult time. Any contribution will be helpful and mean a lot. But even $5, $10, or $20 can go a long way to helping with utilities, groceries, and medical bills.
Thanks for your consideration and keep sending positive energy for Nate to get back to full health.
