Nate's Story

I would like to tell a story about my dear nephew, Nate, otherwise known as “Nate the Great”. Nate is a sweet boy born with a congenital disease that has left him with global developmental delay, wheelchair dependent and non verbal. He also has other multiple medical complications such as low tone, difficulty swallowing, poor vision and hearing, that when combined, makes his life, as a 6 year old child, very difficult. Nate has undergone several surgeries to help maximize his quality of life. Nate is G-tube dependent. He also suffers from frequent pneumonia due to aspirating (inhaling) his food and liquids, causing breathing problems leading to his lungs collapsing.
December 2018, Nate spent 3 1/2 weeks intubated in the Pediatric ICU with a life threatening respiratory virus. While most kids were opening presents, Nate was fighting for his life. The reality is, Nate’s health isn’t getting better and requires 24 hours a day care. Natasha, Nate’s mom has taken a leave from work to care for Nate and his 2 siblings. Ray, Nate’s dad, works from home to accommodate all the medical and therapy appointments. Just recently they found out they have to move out of their home, and this has added additional financial strain on the family.
Funds will be used to assist the family during these difficult times towards the cost of Nate's emergency medical equipment that is needed on a daily basis and the increase in monthly living expenses. Nate and his family also welcomes prayers and well wishes.
