He has helped us, it’s our turn to help him! Those who know Nate are well aware of his selfless, give you the shirt off of his back, nature. He doesn’t ask for help, he gives it. Nate is a disabled US Air Force Veteran who spent 21 years in service to his country. During his service, he completed ten different tours - most of them to sandy desert places with bombs going off. He is a father, son, and my husband. And he is rapidly going blind. This is where you come in. Please read on to find out how you can help Nate keep his sight.
Hi! I’m Melissa, Nate’s wife, and I’m asking for your help. This morning, 04/29/2024, we found out that Nate has an aggressive and rapidly growing form of cataracts in both eyes. His vision started getting hazy at the beginning of this year and he kept feeling like his glasses were dirty. Two weeks ago Nate was able to see our optometrist for a six month check up. Cataracts. In both eyes. He was quickly referred to Wang Vision Institute in downtown Nashville, world renowned for their work in pioneering procedures to restore sight in even the most difficult cases. Today we learned that, in just four months, what was only the beginning of cataracts has become severe enough to warrant immediate surgical intervention. Without surgery in both eyes, Nate will be blind before the end of this year. We were asked if we could have Nate undergo surgery on the first eye next week - it is that urgent. Unfortunately, our insurance only covers a small portion of the surgeries. Our out of pocket costs for surgeries on both eyes and follow up care will be over $10,000. We don’t have it.
Here’s where you come in:
The great news is that Nate’s vision issues are completely reversible and he is an excellent candidate for this surgery. Even better news is that Nate has tons of friends that love him dearly. And every single one of you would buy him a cup of coffee, a beer, dinner, or give him $20 for gas. And all of you would do that this week if given the opportunity. Well, he needs eyes that work and that $5-$25 you would spend on him without even thinking about it will pay for his surgeries. It all adds up and if each of you can donate what you would readily spend hanging out with him, his eye surgeries will be paid for in no time.
Thank you so much for loving Nate and for keeping him in your prayers as he conquers this life challenge!
