Thank you for taking the time to visit this page.
Nate Hager and his family need your help today! I would like to start by saying that they appreciate all your thoughts and prayers throughout this extremely trying time.
Nate Hager is 55 years old. He is a great father to his two kids, Kyle, 14 and Kaitlyn, 22. He is also a wonderful husband to his wife of 25 years, Charlyn Davis-Hager. Nate has been and is still working full-time since 18 years old. He and his family are members of First United Methodist Church in Paintsville, KY. He is a lifetime member of DAV Auxiliary Unit 134 and a member of Masonic Lodge #381 F. & A.M.
As some of you know, Nate has been battling a chronic lung problem for a very long time. He has been hospitalized each year, receiving treatment for chronic infections and pneumonia. At about eight years old Nate was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis. A condition where the bronchial tubes of your lungs are permanently damaged, widened, and thickened. These damaged air passages allow for frequent infections and blockages of the airways. There is no cure for bronchiectasis.
In October and November of 2017 Nate was hospitalized for a total of six weeks with pneumonia. It left him with only 25% lung capacity. His doctor diagnosed Nate as having End Stage Lung Disease. He was referred to Jewish Hospital in Louisville for evaluation to receive a lung transplant. After extensive testing the doctors said that Nate needs a double lung transplant.
A lung transplant is a very expensive operation, over half a million dollars. Nate does have insurance to cover most of the costs but not all. Nate will have to be able to cover the out of pocket expenses of the surgery, and all the follow up care and travel for the first year and has a high risk of rejection during that time. The hospital will not place him on the transplant list until he can demonstrate that he has sufficient funds to care for himself, the transplant expenses and follow-up visits for the first year.
With that in mind, we have a fund raising goal of $55,000. With this, he can be placed on the transplant list and be in line for the transplant when a set of lungs become available.
Please consider donating any amount. There is truly no amount too small to help Nate and his family. Also, please consider sharing this on your social media so that we are able to reach as many potential donors as possible.
All donations will be transferred directly to Nate and Charlyn. If you have any questions about this campaign, feel free to email me using the contact link on the campaign page.
