Nate & Amber Green

Nate Green and his 4-year-old son Wilkie were in a hit and run accident, April 17th outside the Harris Teeter - Blakeney, Charlotte, NC.  They did not have the advantage of the armor of a vehicle between them and the other vehicle.  They were struck down by person fleeing, what appears to be a scene of a shoplifting crime.  The alleged shoplifter jumped into the getaway car that had two other accomplices awaiting his return.  Once in the vehicle the driver proceeded to flee as quickly as possible and did not mind hitting, running over or moving anything that was in his path including a father with his 4-year-old boy.

The vehicle struck them down slamming father and son into the ground.  The father suffers from numerous skull fractures and the sweet baby has abrasions and lacerations but nothing major.  It is heart wrenching for Amber, Wilkie's mother, when her precious baby asked her “mommy why did that blue car want to hit me? Mommy why were those boys in such a hurry, where were they going? I’m so sad I was run over; did they do that on purpose? Did the devil make them be mean?”

It is a miracle that not just one, but both are alive and at home today.

Nate the dad has a difficult road ahead, he is the owner of Southern Olive and Craftsman Woodworker making furniture and art pieces for businesses and locals around the Charlotte area and hopes to go back to work in a few months.  For the next two weeks Nate has doctors’ orders are not to even be a passenger in a vehicle.  They want the head to heal without complications.

Nate has been a good provider and protector of his family but when something like this happens it really hurts a man deeply.  How will he provide for his family?  How will he be able to handle financially just closing on a home but now not being able to finish the upgrades to the old home to sell because he is incapacitated.  How will he handle two mortgages?  When will he be able to go back to work?  And a thought he probably doesn’t want to consider or even think about.  Will I be able to go back to doing what I used to do before this?

It is unforeseen what kind of bills will be associated with this tragedy.

The people in Nate’s community have gathered around his family to show them love and support but they need your help to help this family.  Would you consider giving and to help the Green family in their time of need?
