Natassa’s Mission to Remission

Natassa's Story:

A Rare Diagnosis That Changed Everything
In April 2024 our world was shattered. At just 19 years old, Natassa Adamou was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). She began treatment, and we held onto hope but in December 2024 Just before Christmas, our world was turned upside down again… Natassa’s condition had progressed into Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) A rare and aggressive blood cancer that demanded urgent and intensive life saving treatment.
To survive, Natassa has endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, full-body radiation, blood transfusions, daily injections, bone marrow biopsies, lumber punctures, wisdom teeth removal and eventually A stem cell transplant. Natassa has endured more hospital visits than most people will face in a lifetime. At 19 Natassa was told that due to treatment she would become infertile and face Immediate menopause. No 19 year old should have to hear that and make these drastic decisions.

Her body has been pushed to its limits. Three seizures resulting in her spending nearly a week in intensive care. Anaphylaxis, Sepsis, rashes, fevers, infections overwhelming sickness and pain. The mental toll has been just as devastating not just on Natassa but us as a family.

What Cancer Has Taken

For more than six months, Natassa has been in and out of hospital. She hasn’t been able to work, study, or live like any 19-year-old should.
Losing her hair multiple times during treatment has been one of the hardest parts for Natassa. At such a young age, it’s taken a deep toll on her confidence. It wasn’t just about her appearance — it was about losing parts of herself, again and again, and trying to hold on to who she was before cancer.
This disease has taken so much — not just from her, but from all of us.
Until last Christmas, Natassa was full of life — a vibrant young woman with a passion for theatre, reading, Formula 1, and special-effects makeup. She was training to become a certified makeup artist, filled with excitement for the future. All this came to an abrupt stop due to her diagnosis.

How It’s Affected Our Family

This experience has shaken our family to its core — emotionally, physically, and financially.
Our mum has never left Natassa’s side which means she hasn’t been able to work. Our family runs Marlow Fish Bar, and while we’ve done our best to keep the shop going, it’s been incredibly tough. Our dad works long hours at the shop, then heads straight to the hospital. During emergencies, we’ve even had to temporarily close, because family always comes first.

A Mission Born from Love

In the middle of the chaos, Natassa’s older sister Sofia launched “Natassa’s Mission to Remission”. A campaign to raise awareness, register new stem cell donors, and give her little sister and others like her a fighting chance. Through tireless advocacy across social media, and with the help of incredible global charities, Sofia spread the word to thousands.
And now, we are one step closer:
A matching stem cell donor has been found the miracle we prayed for and never stopped fighting for. A second chance at life after months of unimaginable hardship.

How You Can Help

We’re raising funds to support Natassa so she can be as comfortable as she can and have everything she needs as she continues to fight this awful disease. So we can focus solely on getting Natassa well and enable the family to have the freedom to be able to make choices that are going to get her through this and able to return to all the wonderful things in life that await this beautiful young girl.

Your donations will go towards:
⁃ To cover daily living expenses while she and our mum are unable to work
⁃ To support her recovery after chemotherapy and transplant
⁃ To give back to the charities that have stood beside us (Anthony Nolan, DKMS, The Royal Marsden)

And, as a symbol of my love and commitment, I’ll be jumping out of an aeroplane to raise funds and awareness for my Sister. ✈️

You never think it’ll happen to you or your family… until it does. And your whole world changes forever.
