Natasha McCurdy's Medical Emergency Recovery Fund

In July of 2021, Natasha sustained a fall, courtesy of Yeti, their oversized puppy, leaving her to seek medical treatment for a concussion. During this process, doctors discovered that she had a brain tumor. As more tests were conducted, a second tumor was found in Natasha's neck. It is currently unknown if the two are connected, and doctors won't be able to tell until a biopsy occurs.

In February 2022, Natasha returned to UVA where measurements showed that her brain tumor is growing. It was determined that radiation treatment is not an option, leaving surgical removal the best choice at the appropriate time. Natasha will need to have the neck tumor biopsied and then removed in the interim. All the while, she is living with various side effects that include hearing loss, unsteadiness, partial paralysis, and severe headaches.

On May 31, 2022, Natasha sustained another injury due to these side effects. She lost balance when reaching for Yeti's collar and could not correct herself as her muscles failed to cooperate, then tumbled down the driveway. The impact left her with a broken clavicle bone despite Yeti breaking some of the fall.

This unfortunate incident is causing further financial strain on the family as additional medical bills accumulate and lost wages take a toll on the family budget. Her husband, Scott, will need to take unpaid time off work to care for Natasha, who is also now unable to continue working until her collarbone heals and she regains use of her arm.

As it currently stands, all funds donated will help suplement this lost income as well as cover medical treatment and related costs to include:
Orthapedic Appointment
Clavicle Repair Surgery
Physical Therapy
Neck Tumor Biopsy
Neck Tumor Removal Surgery
Brain Surgery
and Follow Up Appointments

I recognize the need to implore our community for support in light of these circumstances. A community that Natasha loves and dedicates herself to with an unrivaled heart. Whether she is raising money for Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge, serving on the Staunton City School Board, volunteering for the PTA (at every local school, not just the ones her children attend), championing foster care & adoption, quietly lending a hand to neighbors in need, or even rescuing roadside and backyard wildlife. Natasha shows up for those around her time and time again. Now is our opportunity to return her kindness.

While times have been challenging for Natasha and her family, those challenges are surmountable with help from our community! A community that needs this local superhero out of recovery and back in action!
