Our dear friend and colleague Natasha has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be having a partial mastectomy performed in Ottawa Canada on April 11, 2024. Natasha is 49-years young, married with 3 children ranging in age from preteen to university.

Her friends and family are asking for financial support to help lighten some of the load that she must carry. She will be suffering from not only the cancer diagnosis, surgery and treatments, but also from a partial loss of salary as she will need time off work to recover and go through further medical procedures.

Natasha has been encouraged, and has started alternative and holistic therapies, to supplement the traditional medical treatment, as a way to treat the full body and mind and its response to the cancer, surgery and medication. One of Natasha’s colleagues survived breast cancer and heavily relied on the treatments from “the Centre for Health Innovation” in Ottawa to balance out her care. Natasha will be copying many of these treatments, which are not covered by the Province, and her work insurance will only cover a small number of appointments. Natasha may also require physiotherapy to deal with her partial mastectomy and is also doing genomic testing for cancer, as she is also a childhood cancer survivor.

Notre chère amie et collègue Natasha a été diagnostiquée avec un cancer du sein et aura une mastectomie partielle à Ottawa Canada, le 11 avril, 2024. Natasha a 49 ans, mariée avec 3 enfants de l’âge pré-adolescent au niveau universitaire.

Ses amis et sa famille demandent pour un support financier pour aider la charge qu’elle doit porter. Non seulement, elle souffre du diagnostique de cancer, opération et traitements, elle devra aussi souffrir d’une perte partielle de son salaire lorsqu’elle ne sera pas au travail pour guérir et faire des traitements médicaux.

Natasha est encouragée, et a commencé des traitements alternatifs et holistiques, pour supporter les traitements médicaux afin d’aider son corps et esprit et la réaction au cancer, opération et médication. Une des collègue de Natasha a survécu le cancer du sein et s’est fiée aux traitements du « Centre for Health Innovation » à Ottawa pour équilibrer ses soins. Natasha va suivre cet exemple pour ces traitements qui ne sont pas couverts par la Province, et son assurance au travail ne couvre qu’une petite partie de ces rendez-vous. Natasha aura peut-être besoin de physiothérapie pour la mastectomie partielle et fera un test génomique du cancer puisqu’elle est une survivante d’un cancer durant son enfance.
