Hi, reason I have set up this page is because back in November of 2016 Natasha had found a small lump on her breast... After setting up an appointment to get it checked out, she was told that it is nothing to be worried about and that it is just a form of a benine Tumor which shouldn't have any negative effects on the body. After a couple months of constant monitoring by her and I we could tell the lump was starting to become abnormally large and painful for her. Continuing with doctors appointments, they were certain that it was still just a typr of Tumor which could be removed by surgery. She made the decision that she would like to do a biopsy on the lump in order to be certain that it wasnt something worse than they were telling her. On March 8th 2017 she received a phone call from the doctor saying that she needed to be seen immediately. That afternoon is the one that turned our world completely upside down.. We were hit with some terrible news that nobody ever wants to hear. That doctors appointment changed not only our world, but everybody who is a part of our lives had also taken effect from this. Natasha was told that she has breast cancer... once I received the news via text message I could feel my heart drop to my feet. Plenty of emotions were going through the both of our minds but we knew we needed to keep our heads up and figure it all out before thinking the worst. After finally discussing everything and letting family know we went about setting up for her treatments. Our first meeting with the oncologist we were told that she would be put off of work due to the treatments that would be done and the medication needed to remove the cancer. Now the first thing I thought was how is this girl going to go about sitting around not working. She is always on the go and needs to be doing something. I know she was upset because being a bus driver she was sad to have to leave her kids behind without them knowing what was going on. Now the second issue was the financial side of things. We had plans to try and save our money every week and put it in a savings to buy our first house together and start to build our lives. That plan was basically out the window at this point.. We went from two incomes down to one. Now all of the money that would be used for saving needs to be put towards bills to make sure everything is paid each month. When she was released from work, she had attempted to claim sickness benefits but was denied due to shortage of hours. She had applied for cpp, and doesn't qualify because she needs to be disabled for over a year. She has also applied for ODSP but it's a 90 day processing time and we were told that due to my income being taken into account she may not be approved for that either. She is currently on a waiting list to see a social worker from the cancer centre to see if there are any other last resorts to help out with anything at all. We have basically exhausted all of our options for financial support. Travelling expenses to Ottawa and back plus parking add up quickly on their own. We are basically just looking for any help that could keep us on our feet in order to help pay for living expenses. We have been so appreciative of everyone who has been here to lend a helping hand in this time of need. She is the strongest woman I know and I know she will kick this things butt and become even stronger in the end! Thank you so much!!
