Naomi Gonzalez - Fargo National Wrestling Funds

Hello, my name is Naomi Gonzalez. I am a 14-year-old 9th grader from Valley Stream North High School. During this last winter sports season, I represented the heavyweight division for Valley Stream North’s Varsity Wrestling Team. I placed 1st in two Long Island Regional Tournaments at Queen of the Mat & Rocky Point. I also came in 2nd place in the first New York State Folkstyle Girls Invitational in Syracuse, and 2nd in the NYWAY State Championship in Utica. I recently qualified to compete at the US Marine Corps National Wrestling Championships in Fargo, ND by taking 1st place at this last weekend’s NYS Olympic Folkstyle Championships.

The Nationals takes place this summer from July 15th – July 22nd. This is the biggest Olympic style wrestling tournament in the world. The cost for me to be able to compete in this tournament is $3000. This includes air travel to & from North Dakota, uniforms, lodging and meals for the week that I will be in Fargo, ND.
