This is Nanook, our rescue from Battersea, who was found in the Medway by the Dog Warden as a puppy, then taken to Battersea Dogs home. We rescued him from Battersea in 2024.
He has become the love of the family, a gentle, loveable, ball of fluff and an unofficial therapy dog for the family too.
He was a very anxious puppy and training didn't always go to plan. We now know why.
When he kept bumping into things and we realised he couldn't see his ball when you ask him to fetch it, we then noticed his eyes were cloudy, we took him to Andersons vets.
They took a look and referred us to South East Vet Referrals where we found out that, at not even 2 years old, he has cataracts in both eyes.
In order to save his sight, he has to have both cataracts surgically removed, very quickly.
The total of the surgery is around £6000. The insurance will cover £4000 but it is not enough. We have to find £2000 urgently.
His surgery is booked for Tuesday 2nd June at South East Vet Referrals with a caring vet called Richard, who so far has made our anxious boy feel very much at ease, not least with a bit of food bribery.
Nanook has been through so much already in his short life, and despite this is such a loving, funny, kind dog, we want to give him the chance to live a full life, with his sight back.
We are asking for help to raise the £2000 that he needs and we would be very grateful for any help given.
If by some miracle we raise more than we need, we'll donate the rest to Battersea, who rescued him and let us be his family.
Thank you.
