Nanny Norma's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
As some as you may know my Nan Norma Nicolas has been battling with heart failure for many years. This year has been extremely tough for both Nan and my Papa Wayne. Wayne has recently developed dementia, putting even more stress on my Nan. Nan is the most kind hearted woman you will ever meet, and would give the world to a stranger if she could. Nans heart is currently working below %15, causing her body to slowly shut down. She is currently on the heart transplant list, but her body is producing too many antibodies forcing the chances of her transplant to be next to impossible. Without the LVAD surgery Nan wouldn't live to see the chances of getting a transplant. The LVAD surgery is a device which assists the heart in pumping blood. Only 9 people in British Columbia have one. If she were to not be able to make it to the transplant she would leave behind 11 grand-kids, 3 children, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and many family members who would miss her dearly. Nan has such an impact on some many lives, and we know the world wouldn't be the same without her. This surgery comes with many risks, and has a long recovery process causing her to live in Vancouver for up to 3 months after her extensive hospital stay. Nan is heart broken knowing she won't be able to see her family in time for Christmas. She is constantly worrying about the stress that all of this is putting on our family. As many of you know Vancouver isn't the cheapest place to live. Nan also would have to maintain their residence in Prince George. Just their residence in Prince George is next to impossible to maintain after their medication, the rent, and support that Papas dementia requires. The surgery requires Nan to have a family member pick up their life from Prince George and move down with her to provide care around the clock. This comes with lost wages, and adding on even more of a cost to the family. With constant travel back and forth before hand for specialist appointments this doesn't leave Nan with much to fend with. If you are able to donate our family would be forever grateful for you helping our Nan survive this terrifying experience. The money would go towards her recovery process after the surgery, and the cost of living down in Vancouver. Nan is currently scheduled to have the LVAD surgery on Thursday, November 29th. Thank you.
