Nanny get the healthcare and help she needs
Donation protected
As most of you know, my Nanny has been in and out of the hospital and rehab facilities since August 17th. When she first went to the hospital in August, she was in critical condition and severely malnourished, dehydrated, and depleted of all nutrients and vitamins. She was in the ICU for a couple of weeks before being moved to a regular hospital room.
From there, she was moved to Rice rehab center. They pushed her to do things she was not physically ready for and she hurt her leg and developed a fever, pneumonia, sepsis, and diverticulitis, among other things. We had no idea of some of these complications until my mom decided she needed hospital care again. And thankfully she did, because she spent about a month at Lexington Hospital, trying to recover. She also started aspirating and building fluid in her lungs while there.
She is now at Wildewood Downs until we can get her a bed in a long term care center. My grandmother will NEVER be able to live on her own again (which breaks her heart). Insurance has stopped paying for my Nannys care. My mom has filled appeals to try to get the help my grandmother needs. It was denied. She is trying again.
My parents have now had to pay Wildewood OUT OF POCKET to take care of my Nanny. You may not realize, but these places charge $300-$500 A DAY! Not only that, but my parents are having to provide supplies that she needs to help take care of her. (She now has a fistula bag and a urostomy bag, as well as the thickeners/drinks, and other things the facility can not provide.)
My mom has run herself ragged these past few months. She is always visiting and taking care of my Nanny, cooking her meals, meeting with social services workers or nurses, fighting with people about insurance, and the list does not stop. My parents would NEVER ask for help, but that doesn't mean I can't do it for them.
If you have it in your heart, to please help my family, we would so much appreciate it. Even $5 adds up! I know that this is a lot to ask around Christmas, so I am asking all family members, that would normally buy my children toys for Christmas- to please NOT do that, but to consider donating here instead. I would love to be able to help relieve some of the burden off of my parents and help my Nanny get the care she needs.
Thank you!!
