Nancy's Wings of Hope
Donation protected
My name is Diana Parmar. On July 27th, 2017 I will be hosting a charity event not only to raise money for children suffering from leukemia but provide an outlet for those unaware of the seriousness of the disease to learn more about ways in which they can help.
This campaign is designed to promote awareness among the people of New York City, especially the South Asian community.
The cause is very dear to my heart as my younger sister Nancy Parmar lost her battle to leukemia in 2014. A 21-year-old college student, Nancy aspired to become an oral surgeon and serve underprivileged children in need of dental procedures. Even in her death, she sought to help those in need by becoming an advocate of several leukemia awareness campaigns. Despite knowing her condition was rare and a match was next to impossible to find, Nancy encouraged college students in New York City to become donors. Through her efforts and the efforts of her friends and loved ones we managed to sign 1,300 college students to become bone marrow donors with SAMAR and DKMS. The annual charity event is in honor of the Nancy's spirit of giving.
This GoFundMe page was setup on the request of those who wish to contribute but are unable to attend the event on the day of or wish to add to the contributions in any way.
All proceeds will go to Memorial Sloan Kettering's pediatric wing.
