Nancy's Trip to Help the Aussie Animals

Donation protected
Over 1 billion animals have been killed by the unprecedented bushfires in Australia. My name is Nancy Butlin, I live in Austin, Texas, and I am a devoted animal lover.  My husband is Australian, so we are keeping a close eye on the catastrophic bushfires, and are heartbroken by the enormous loss of animal lives. The surviving animals have no habitat, food or water. Many are severely burned and more are dying every day. We have been sending help in every way we can from afar, but I want to do more.

Reports about the immense loss of Australia’s unique wildlife in these fires has brought me to tears daily - so we decided as a family that I will go help the animals!  I’m ready to put my boots on the ground and help where I am needed.  We are lucky to have family and friends spread around the east coast of Australia that can provide me with free accommodation and a vehicle, so I will stay with them in the areas of most need.  I'll assist the rescued/injured animals - as well as the animals needing food/water/recovery that are still out in the bush.  I will stay 1 month volunteering with Central Coast Wildlife Search and Rescue, The Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC), and various small sanctuaries that are caring for injured wildlife.  I will help in whatever way I am needed - there is so much to do!

My airline ticket has been purchased (with miles) and I and have spent many late nights sewing small pouches, wraps and blankets that I will take with me for the injured animals. The Australian rescue groups are asking to no longer spend efforts sewing as the need now is more monetary and hands-on for food, water, and medical assistance for the animals.

If you would like to help but aren't sure how, a donation of any size would be greatly appreciated.  Donations will be used to purchase items necessary to care for the animals, including (but not limited to) medications, medical supplies, food (both for rescued animals and starving animals still in the wild), and supplies to build and install watering stations needed due to drought and fires.  Many Australian animal rescue groups are family run and self-funded, receiving no government assistance.  These people are trying desperately to help, but also suffering at the same time.  All remaining funds will be donated to organizations that provide excellent assistance and need help the most.

My trip to Australia will be February 10 – March 10, 2020.  I will update everyone on my efforts and send pictures of my journey. Any donation will help make an impact, no matter how big or small!  I greatly appreciate your consideration!
