Hi, I’m Nancy Brewington, and I’ve been called to lead our church’s first mission trip to New York City this summer.

I’m raising funds to cover the cost of my travel and ministry expenses, and—if God allows—help support other team members who are ready and willing to serve but may be facing financial hardship. This mission is deeply personal for me, as I’ll be returning to the very neighborhood I grew up in for the first time since the early 1970s. What follows is the full story behind this call and why your support matters so much.

This summer, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to return to a place deeply woven into the fabric of my soul—Harlem, New York. Nearly 25 years ago, I embarked on my very first mission trip to Ecuador, a journey that would change my life and confirm God’s calling on my heart. Now, after decades of healing, serving, and growing, God is calling me back—not just to any city, but to the very streets where I was raised.

It will be my first time since around 1971 that I will step foot back into the housing projects where I grew up. For years, I felt hesitation. Memories and emotions long tucked away made the idea of returning feel heavy. But God has been whispering to my soul, “It is time.” Time to return not in pain, but in purpose. Not with fear, but with faith.

This mission is more than a trip. It’s a divine full-circle moment.

Our small, passionate team from Watershed Church in Texas will be serving alongside Harlem Community Church to minister to local families, children, and those experiencing homelessness. We will support Vacation Bible School, prayer walks, street ministry, and whatever God places before us to be His hands and feet.

But this mission is not just about me.

There are others who feel the call—who are ready and willing to go, to serve, and to pour out their love. Some of them face financial hurdles that could prevent them from fulfilling this call. And that’s where we need your help.

Our Fundraising Goal

The estimated cost per person for the mission is $1,500, which covers travel, lodging, food, and ministry supplies. This fundraiser will first help cover my portion as the mission trip coordinator, and any remaining funds will be prayerfully used to support other team members who are willing to serve but may not have the financial means.

As God provides, we hope to sponsor 2–3 additional hearts for this mission. Your generosity can help multiply our impact.
