Nancy's Diner

I’ve been working as an artist for years, and have had the privilege of supporting many others and their visions. They've inspired me to not be afraid and to tell my own stories. When I sat down to write Nancy's Diner, I realized that while I spent so long aiding others, I had denied myself the right to use my voice for so long. This story is my story; I see this film as an expression of the anxiety that comes with being betrayed by a loved one, the vulnerability that comes with love, and the experience of a broken friendship.
Nancy's Diner comes from truthful experiences of guilt. I wanted to tell this story from a perspective of thrills and chills. We all can relate to the feeling of "something eating you alive" inside causing stressful moments in your life.
We're telling the story of 3 characters and how they handled their guilt. Robbie's experience shows the example of not confronting those toxic traits and treating those around us poorly, while we show Ella's obsession with trying to move on from her relationship through writing and exposing Gracie.
Gracie represents a healthy avenue that anyone should take but falls into guilt as she becomes too prideful in her sistership with Ella. The visuals in this film will be a combination of old-school thriller/horror films with examples like Stranger Things and Under the Skin. Guilt is the monster in this film.
Through the writing process, my producer, Jianna Kristine, and I sent drafts of the script to different filmmakers we not only admire but who we thought would understand the message behind Nancy’s Diner. Our team has helped sculpt a story about how mental health can impact families and their dynamics.
Another important factor for us was elevating talent in our Bronx/Queens community and making sure our crew truly understood the setting and characters of our film: scrappy, resourceful, proud New Yorkers.
