Nancy Capper's Chemo Care & Transplant Prep

Donation protected
On January 15, 2018 my mom, Nancy, was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML).   For a year her prescribed chemotherapy worked to keep the leukemia under control. Unfortunately this past January it was discovered that her medication had quit working, so the first few months of 2019 were spent trying to find the right drug to work for her.  At the end of April mom’s leukemia exploded into what is called a “blast crisis”. This happens in only 2% of CML patients when the cancer becomes more aggressive and turns into Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a very deadly cancer. Her oncologist immediately transferred her to a blood specialist at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV where Mom underwent 3 weeks of intensive chemotherapy.  Since then, mom has completed two more cycles of in-hospital chemotherapy.  Her ALL is now considered to be in remission and she is currently being prepped for a bone marrow transplant in early August.

We are so thankful, and praise the Lord, that mom is already at the point of preparing for the transplant.  The Lord has provided an outstanding medical team for mom, and has preserved and protected her body through very harsh and intense chemo infusions as well as continuous traveling back and forth from their hometown of Cumberland, MD to the hospital in Morgantown, WV.

While the bone marrow transplant itself is covered 100% by their insurance, moms medical bills from WVU Cancer Clinic, (which is out of network for them) and travel costs from the last 2-3 months are beginning to pile up.  Asking for financial assistance is not an easy thing to do, but as we trust the Lord to provide for our every need we wonder if He might put it on the hearts of others to come along side my parents and support them in this way.

Regardless, we would ask that you cover my mom in prayer.  If you know my mom, you know she is a prayer warrior.  She and my dad have taught me and my siblings to pray boldly and expectantly.  Would you follow their example as well and join us in praying for moms physical healing, renewed strength, that her cancer would remain in remission and for a successful transplant? This has not been an easy road and we know that the road ahead will also come with challenges, but our strength is found in Christ alone and we find encouragement to continue on in this journey by looking back and seeing the grace and mercy of Jesus poured out on our every step.

Thank you for joining us in this journey.
