My mom, Nancy, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on September 17, 2016. She spent her entire life caring for her family, friends, and patients.
As a physical therapist, Nancy worked tirelessly to provide resources to support patients both emotionally and spiritually. Her focus was always on improving the long-term quality of life for patients with amputations. She contributed to a successful amputee clinic at Eskenazi (formally Wishard) Hospital, and her dream was to establish an outpatient amputee clinic at Indiana University Health. To achieve this goal, Nancy and a team of therapists worked to coordinate services with physician specialists, prosthetists, social workers, and many other healthcare providers.
A short time before the go-live for the new clinic, Nancy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; however, she did not let this stop her from living out her dream. Despite undergoing chemotherapy treatments, Nancy attended meetings to help improve clinic functions, volunteered her time to help in clinic, and mentored other therapists on the best care for patients with amputations.
Anyone who knew Nancy knows she never gave up. Because of her passion and determination, patients at IU Health will forever benefit from the care provided at the amputee clinic. Nancy’s memory will live on through her endeavors to make the IU Health Amputee Clinic a reality.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you provide a donation in support of Nancy's dream. Funds will be withdrawn in our name and donated directly to the Methodist Health Foundation for the IU Health Amputee Clinic. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
