Hi everyone, my name is Nancy Foti and I'm a 21 year old college student (soon be graduate) attending USF. My 5 courses and internship were going fine until I started feeling pains in my abdomen during my menstrual cycle. After going to the emergency room, getting an ultrasound and CT scans the doctors came to the conclusion I had a basketball-sized mass on my ovary. After being denied surgery because the hospital did not have the surgeon needed to complete my surgery. I omitted myself into a different hospital where a gynecological oncologist did complete my surgery and removed my 25 pound cyst and my ovary. However, at my post-op I received news from my oncologist that there was cancer in my cyst. The stage of the ovarian cancer was 1A and is Grade 2 which means 3 months of chemotherapy is recommended as a precautionary treatment. I need to go to doctor appointments which are 30 minutes from my house and follow-ups surrounding this diagnosis. Since the COVID-19 pandemic my parents have gone through financial hardship. My father, who worked at a pizzeria, was laid-off at the beginning of the pandemic and has been on unemployment. My mother is a hairdresser whose number of clients have decreased immensely since the start of the pandemic. My mother also was not able to work through the month of November because I was in the hospital(s) for 2 weeks. It has been hard making ends meet with bills, food, pets etc and this adds another cost to our budget. I would really appreciate, if you are able to, if you could donate to help out me and family during this time. Thank you and love you all.
