Our family can use your support! After a long struggle with illness, Nancy passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Unfortunately, this has left her only child, her daughter Chelsea, and family in a very tight financial bind. Due to issues with her extended illness and being in and out of the hospital, Nancy was not able to finish her estate planning prior to her passing, and left this world just a few short days before signing the prepared documents and transferring access to her assets (bank accounts, etc.) to Chelsea. Now, instead of being able to grieve the loss of her Mother, Chelsea is struggling to acquire funds to provide the most basic funeral home expenses and pay other upcoming bills. The probate process has been started, but the attorney believes it may be 6 months before the court appoints her as an executor of the estate. This leaves 6 months that she has to pay an extra mortgage, utilities, and other upcoming bills without the ability to sell the house, have access to Nancy's bank accounts, or even be able to negotiate with creditors. The lawyer told her she MUST keep the utilities on and bills paid. She can not yet access any insurance payouts, and Social Security death benefits are abysmally low. Her hands are completely tied waiting for the NY court system, which is running insanely behind, citing post-COVID delays. Any penny that we can help raise to get this family through one of the hardest things they may ever experience in their lives will help tremendously.
