If you've ever met Nancy Nelson, you know she’s one of the kindest, most selfless people around. For years, she’s poured her heart into helping others—raising hundreds of thousands of dollars through auctions for Greyhound medical funds, the Greyhound Hall of Fame, individual dogs in need, and even people facing tough times.
Nancy has driven thousands of miles transporting greyhounds from West Virginia to the East Coast to help them find loving homes. She’s also made countless transatlantic trips to Spain, acting as a flight chaperone to bring Galgos to their new lives in the U.S.
Now, it’s our turn to give back.
Nancy’s beloved Galgo, affectionately known as Baby Jorge, recently suffered a catastrophic injury while chasing a squirrel—something he loves to do. He’s been hospitalized since Saturday and has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease, caused by a herniated disk pressing on his spine. He has lost the use of his front legs.
With the results of an MRI, the neurosurgeon has confirmed the condition is inoperable, but there is hope: with time, medication, and physical therapy, Jorge could regain mobility.
Nancy has already paid over $12,000 out of pocket, and the costs will continue to rise as she gives Jorge the best chance at recovery.
Please consider donating to help Nancy and Baby Jorge. You can support them through the GoFundMe or, if you prefer, directly via Venmo: @Nancy-Nelson-159.
Let’s show Nancy the same compassion she’s given so many others.
