This is a donation site for Nancy Jennings.
My mom, Nancy, was in the hospital with irregular heart rhythms. It started as an overnight monitoring visit, but it turned into an ICU stay. Except for evidence of the early stages of dementia, she was healthy and independent prior to this and her heart symptoms weren't thought to be life threatening. Unfortunately, treatments were unsuccessful and the process was too much stress on her body. She came to her final rest on June 25, 2021. She was 78.
Visitation was limited, but each of her five children was able to stay and care for her during her visit. Every day we hoped for her return to us. She did for brief times, which we are so grateful for. On her last day, focus turned to making her comfortable and others closest to her were able to say goodbye. The Chandler Regional ICU staff was very caring and we appreciate everything they did for us.
She was a thoughtful, patient, and creative woman. She loved books and Apple computers. Pansies are her favorite flower and we had all colors of them in our gardens growing up. She was retired, previously a teacher in Ganado, Arizona and also in several schools after. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She and my Dad don't live together, but they have been married for over 50 years and talked on the phone every night.
She enjoyed a cold classic Coca Cola more than most, remembering trips to the soda fountain with her father and brother. My sister and I drank cokes in her honor as we said goodbye and I'm sure we all will going forward when we need to remember her.
She was not a big-gathering kind of gal. In lieu of services, this donation page is to cover medical expenses and/or a memorial placement.
Funds will be used in the following order: 1) To pay ICU related invoices that arrive before a memorial placement 2) For the memorial placement itself - we are looking into a bench or plaque at a library, botanical garden or zoo.
For other donation alternatives, she was especially fond of the Tempe Public library, but any library would do. Donor Network of Arizona, Hospice of the Valley, or Chandler Regional Medical Center would be good choices as well.
Thank you for your sympathy and support. We love her very much and this is unexpected and difficult to go through.
