Nancy in critical condition. Sausage dog ❤️

Precious Nancy has recently picked up HGE which can potentially be fatal in small dogs. Acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome (AHDS), also known as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE), is an acute (sudden) disorder of dogs characterized by vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Some dogs may have a painful abdomen, decreased appetite, lethargy, or fever. Most cases occur without warning in otherwise healthy dogs.

She fell poorly on Friday early morning and has rapidly gone down hill.

Since being in the emergency vet Nancy has had a feeding tube administered to help with her protein and glucose levels. But as she was on paracetamol and opioids this has now causes Illius which is where the intestines and gut stop working. To combat this she has had plasma and blood transfusions but they seem to be not working as her blood pressure is extremely low and her red blood cell count dangerously high.

This has compromised her liver and she is now extremely dehydrated . With no protein her body isn’t absorbing the fluids she is constantly being pumped and our happy gorgeous girl isn’t very well or comfortable at all.

As of this morning she is still very quiet and her vitals are low. Her heart isn’t working the way they need it too so they have administered adrenaline in hopes this will give her a boost.

The next step is to put a catheter in her jugular which she would need sedating for. This is to pump high levels of glucose into her blood which is what she desperately needs right now.

Which is why I am setting up a go fund me. Her insurance bracket has now been maxed out and our funds are low.

If you have had the pleasure of meeting Nancy you will know she is the sweetest dog who just wants to be loved by everyone. She is my whole world and I simply cannot loose her. She is only four years old and has so much life left in her.

I know times are extremely hard at the moment so anything anyone can give is extremely generous. I wouldn’t do this if it was not last resort but vet bills are astronomical and I have to make sure I do what I can for my noodle x
