Nancy's Peace of Mind Fund
Donation protected
Many of you know that Nancy Freedman-Smith was diagnosed with colon cancer in October 2015. She followed the doctor's protocol (she has some great docs) and finished up chemo and radiation in December. Nancy tolerated the treatment well with some expected speed bumps and is now ready for the next phase of treatment.
On Feb 9th, Nancy is having major surgery and will be out of work for a minimum of 6 weeks. This surgery is extensive; they will remove the tumor and because it's touching her uterus, they'll remove that, too. She will have a temporary ileostomy bag while she heals and she'll need another surgery in about 3 months to have it reversed. And if that wasn't enough...there will be another round of chemo a few months post op.
Six weeks without work is tough but 6 weeks without a paycheck is even harder! When you work for yourself, you're a single mom (with one kiddo in college) and there is no sick time or disability insurance to draw upon, it becomes a nightmare. Nancy also lightened her work load during the height of her treatments, so her "Peace of Mind" fund is extremely low. That's where we all come in....
We put together this Go Fund me page so that Nancy can have that Peace of Mind and not worry about how to continue to pay for the medical expenses that aren't covered by health insurance, car payments, and all the bills that pile on so fast. Many of you have asked what you can do to help. A small donation is really what she needs in this time of great worry and stress.
The great news is that her prognosis is good and the doctors are going for" total eradication".
Please help if you can.
