12/22/2025 UPDATE!

Grrrr! Here we go again!

I went for a bike ride a couple of weeks ago, and my leg got a little swollen afterwards. It wasn't hot, it didn't hurt and I didn't have a fever, so I waited a few days to go to the hospital.

It turns out, I'm leg was infected and I had to have emergency surgery once again!

(hey good news)

Thankfully, it wasn't MRSA

My surgery team was going to clean out the infection. During the operation, Dr. Jessica Rivera decided my formerly shattered tibia was strong enough to not need a replacement titanium rod! Which is great news because it's less likely to get infected.

Once again I'm using a walker. Back to square one. I had just joined the gym, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's pump club. I'm trying my not to get discouraged. I feel so weak and out of shape.

AND

I still haven't received money from SSI. I have an appointment with SSI Jan. 9th, where hopefully this will all be resolved, and I will receive assistance. At this point, I have exhausted all of my savings and donations, and once again I need your help.

Thank you everyone for all your help; keeping me afloat, and mentally centered.

How it all began...

10/16/2022:

I was struck and almost killed by a speeding hit and run vehicle. I sustained catastrophic injuries including a fractured skull, brain bleed, fractured C2 and C3 vertebrae, a broken pelvis, fractured sacrum and coccux among other things. My right leg got it the worst, it was severely shattered and needed comprehensive treatment including a titanium rod nailed down the full length of my tibia.

This leads me to my current situation. During the last surgery I had a bone graft to patch up a hole in my tibia. The operation went smoothly, so I thought.

I was infected with MRSA during this operation, where it festered until last week. It was a deep infection that resulted in having my leg wound opened up to have the highly infectious MRSA scraped out, and the replacement of the titanium rod because it has become infected.

Edit: The MRSA has cleared but I will have to be on a low dosage of antibiotics forever. ‍

I'll be going home soon where I will be receiving IV antibiotic treatment through a PICC line which goes directly into my heart, for the next 6 weeks. This is all so incredibly stressful .

On April 17th I will have my 8th surgery because the wound won't close. Wish me luck! ❤️

UPDATE: June 19th 2025

Here I get again! Operation #9.

I need your help.

All money will be used for rent, utilities and medical equipment to help me rehabilitate.

I've had another setback. My leg wound started oozing fluid from the same spot. The surgeon said if it doesn't stop oozing, I'll need to have another operation.

I went in yesterday for a follow-up appoin tment. I saw my plastic surgeon, Dr. K. He took out a large syringe full of fluid, then added around 8 STITCHES ‍

The wound was initially closed with surgical glue, but apparently it couldn't hold back the busted leak.

Dr. K then showed me how to wrap the leg with tight direct compression to the wound.

Oh! And now I've been denied SSI. I've hired a lawyer, so Im on top of it.

I don't know how long it's going to take to receive SSI, so Im in a bind since I can't work. Everything helps❤

Thank you for all your support!
