This is Nami. She’s a loving and sweet Pembroke welsh corgi with a lot of energy and character. Nami had a litter on Christmas Eve & has an amazing mother instinct. She loves puppies of all kind. Unfortunately after about a week she developed a fever due to an infection in her uterus. They did an emergency spay and found a lot of internal bleeding. They discovered her uterus had ruptured and she lost a lot of blood. Our vet called mid surgery to let us know she was not likely to survive due to a lot of blood loss and they were almost out of blood to give. 5 hours later we got the call she was in critical condition and had to be hospitalized. She received multiple blood transfusions and platelet transfusions and was under 24 hour supervision because they were afraid she would be septic. She came home after a couple of days but was not eating well so we ordered every variety of food we could give her and she has finally started eating as of today.

I am the owner of Nami & had to take the month off of work because her 7 puppies require bottle feeding every two hours. Nami has also developed separation anxiety since the hospital and will cry and howl if I leave her. Her vet bill across both hospitals she was at during this ordeal totaled 12k. We would spend any money needed to make sure our best friend survived and got to enjoy her 4th birthday in a few weeks. We thought we lost her during the most painful 5 hours of our lives and can never take for granted the opportunity we have to bring her home. We understand that asking for donations for a dog is a big ask, but to us she’s not just a dog— she’s our family. The dog community and corgi community has been incredibly generous and helped us with puppy supplies since our emergency fund was wiped out by medical bills and the puppies formula and supplements.
