When Parker Kelly started to rack up goals, many invested in his success early. After surpassing his previous career-high of 8 goals, some even suggested he could hit 20.
After regaling Denver media with tales of his whale-watching adventures over the Olympic break (It was peak season! He and his wife could hear them singing!), the joy that the whales brought Parker Kelly was not so different from the joy that his goals brought to the fans.
So at goal 14, Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports wagered a whale. If Parker Kelly hit 20 goals, she'd adopt a whale in his honor through the Oceanic Society. And he did!
Waffles is already a part of the Avs Family, but many of you didn't want to stop there.
In an effort to name a whale in honor of Parker Kelly, Guerilla Sports is raising funds to make it happen. The goal is $1000.

- There have been many incredible name suggestions (Parker Whaley, Parker Kelpy, Ophelia), but in order to reach a consensus, naming the whale Parker Kelly seems simplest!
- If we don't reach our goal, we will simply refund the donations since everyone might have a different idea of what they'd like to do next, but making a donation to the Oceanic Society as a next step is encouraged!
- We will present Parker Kelly with a certificate of his whale and a list of every donor who made it possible.
