Ever since I did my first climb, I have found a strong passion for hiking and mountaineering. It all started with a summer trip to Wales in 2024 with my friends, where we climbed Moel Eilio and Crib Goch on Snowdon.

From that point onwards, my passion for climbing and eventually mountaineering grew exponentially, with further trips to the Lake District and Scotland towards the end of 2024 and into 2025, where I developed much of my winter mountaineering skills.

As well as this, I also took up a new hobby of long-distance running.

In early 2025, after multiple life-threatening episodes of anaphylaxis while running a half marathon and doing other forms of exercise, I was diagnosed with a rare condition called exercise-induced anaphylaxis. Although it is still unclear to this day exactly what the cause is, after many trips to hospital and tests its likely to be driven by allergens in the summer combined with intensive exercise.

Despite this, I decided that I wasn’t going to let it stop me from achieving my goals, and continued to run long distances and commit to more challenging climbs.

So what’s next?

In September I will be completing one of the hardest challenges of my life so far: The first recorded British summit attempt of Mt. Wukuchu in China at 19 years old.

Wukuchu is a 5,526-metre (18,130 ft) technical sub-peak located in the the Mount Gongga region in Sichuan, China. It is located near Mount Gongga, the 3rd highest peak on Earth outside the Himalayas and Karakoram ranges.

Why Wukuchu?

Alongside myself, I will be summiting the mountain with a trained Chinese guide, as well as a long-time friend, Wenli Jiang, whom I initially met in 2023 at flight school, where we both worked to attain our private pilot licences.

Wenli Jiang has since completed a summit of Nama Peak, which although was the original plan, has recently been closed due to fatalities and religious reasons. Wukuchu willl be yet another high altitude mountain in the region for her as she prepares for further 6000m+ peaks in October.

For a while I had many things in mind; however, we both briefly spoke about the idea. Wukuchu, Nama peak and many peaks in the Gongga region are relatively new in the world of mountaineering, with the first summit of Wukuchu being completed in 2023.

The uniqueness and beauty of this peak is what drove me to settle on this goal.

For me, there are many goals to this climb, however these stand out:

* Motivating the people of my generation as well as myself

I want to show that resilience and discipline are still very much alive in young people today.
