Nala's VCA Surgery Costs After Car Accident

Donation protected

Unfortunately, on Friday, February 10th the unimaginable happened to my friend's baby girl Nala, who is almost 2 years old when she was hit by a car in a tragic accident while she was checking her mailbox.

Nala, along with their eight-year-old Son Brody, are my friend Julie and Billy's entire world. Nala and Brody do everything together, from visiting Santa or the Easter Bunny, to running around playing catch after school. Brody loves their walks to get ice cream or car rides to DQ. Nala and Brody are inseparable best friends. Tragically, Brody was there to witness the accident of his beloved best friend Nala.

Immediately following the accident Nala was rushed to her local vet and sent immediately to the VCA hospital in Weymouth due to her extensive injuries. Nala suffers from a broken tibia, and several other broken bones and underwent two surgeries and spent 4 days in the ICU in the care of the wonderful team at the VCA.

She is now at home recovering but needs 24/7 care because she cannot stand on her own and needs help with everything. Nala is in a harness that must be held anytime she needs to move for everyday needs as small as using the bathroom. Thankfully, the doctors expect a full recovery because she is young and healthy but it will be weeks before Nala will not need to remain supervised and aided around the clock.

The medical bills for saving Nala amount to almost $12K and Nala has additional procedures and visits for her recovery in the upcoming days and weeks. While her family has pet insurance, they are not covering these unexpected expenses. Julie and Billy, Nala's parents the most thoughtful, selfless and hardworking people who would do anything for anyone and always put their friends, family and strangers first. I know we can come together to help them out as they would any of us, anything you can do to help or even just a share is very much appreciated. I hope this fundraiser relieves even the smallest bit of worry about the financial cost of saving their furbaby has brought.

It has been a truly painful and traumatizing experience for their family and they are so happy Nala is home with them recovering. We will provide an update on Nala's recovery as they become available. Thank you very much.
