8/27: Nala still cannot support herself. PCR test will not be available for at least a week. Steroids and antibiotics, orally, until then.
8/26: Spinal tap results will not be available until later today. Dr believes it’s one of 3 things. Likely GME. The other 2 are not treatable: fungal or cancer. GME success rate is 65%.
My 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, Nala, lost the ability to use her hind legs. Today, 8/25, she is undergoing several tests and may need to have spinal surgery, suspected IVDD. We traveled 2 hours to a vet neurologist to have the tests completed. The cost of the tests alone is $4,500, and surgery could cost upwards of $12,000+.
Nala has been my lifeline and has imprinted on me more than any pet I've ever had. We made it through the pandemic and a rough divorce together. This is a plea for help supporting her vet bills and potential surgery to get her moving again.
