UPDATE: Nala is Home!!!

Her labs improved enough that we were able to take her home on 10/14. Nala will continue to receive care and follow up next week. Thank you to all who have reached out and offered support during this time.

Story:

We are the parents to the sweetest miniature Australian Shepherd, Nala. We are humbly asking for assistance with Nala’s ER and now ICU bills. Nala was admitted to the pet ER on 10/6/2023 for acute renal failure with an unknown cause. After extensive investigation, the culprit was found to be toxicity from rat poison that someone carelessly left at our community park. Unfortunately, rat poison is incredibly toxic and leads to organ failure and ultimately death if not treated. She is a severe case and continues to require hospitalization for an extended duration.

We had held off on pet insurance for years, hoping that an incident like this would never happen. We signed up for insurance on the day of her admission, but the policy has a waiting period and will not provide coverage. Bills are racking up. The initial estimate was ~$8110 and will likely be much more as her hospitalization is ongoing.

Nala is family. She is the sweetest, most loving, affectionate, and spunky dog. The money would go directly toward her treatment and long-term care.
