Nakobe Dean has been named the Week 9 NFL Players Association
(NFLPA) Community MVP after helping hundreds of families and children in need through his Community Giveback Doubleheader Week.
On October 21, the Philadelphia Eagles linebacker and his Kind Hearts 4 Lyfe Foundation teamed up with the Oral health Impact Project to launch their second annual school tour, providing more than 100 students with free dental cleanings, screenings and supplies at Julia de Burgos Elementary School. Dean talked to the kids about the importance of good dental hygiene as part of a five-date school tour that will continue throughout the season.
Four days later, Dean was at it again. This time, he held a community giveback event for students and their families at KIPP Philadelphia Preparatory Academy. Dean teamed up with Eagles teammate Jalen Carter to donate 1,000 winter coats for the youth to stay warm during the colder months. Dean's charitable event also supplied 600 meals, 200 free haircuts and, in partnership with Moravia Health, 300 blood pressure and diabetes screenings for those in attendance. This collaborative effort Dean's Kind Hearts 4 Lyfe Foundation furthers its mission to promote kindness and positive impact through community service initiatives throughout the region, including holiday toy drives, school supply distributions and more.
In recognition of Dean being named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 9, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice. Along with the other Community MVPs from this season, he will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
As part of a new supporting partnership with GoFundMe, fans can now also make a donation directly to the NFLPA Community MVP’s selected nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible and will go directly to the player's selected nonprofit.
Now in its 12 th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP campaign is part of the union’s continued efforts to support the year-round civic outreach and engagement of its player members. For more information about NFLPA Community MVP program, visit here.
