Nairobi to NFTS: Back Densu's Producing MA Dream

Donation protected
Hello there,

I'm Densu Moseti, a filmmaker hailing from Nairobi, Kenya. Over the past decade, I've passionately contributed to the Kenyan film industry, lending my skills to an array of projects, including notable feature films like "Nairobi Half-Life" (2012), "Something Necessary" (2013), and "Veve" (2014), ‘Stories of Our Lives’(2014) as well as various short films, TVCs and corporate documentaries.

My creative journey took a fascinating turn when I collaborated with the Nairobi-based architectural firm, Cave_bureau, resulting in projects that have been showcased at prestigious venues worldwide. From the Nature Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial in 2019 to the Guggenheim Museum's World Around Summit residency, and even the esteemed 17th & 18th Venice Architecture Biennales. To top it off, our creations are soon to be featured at the upcoming 2023 Sharjah Architecture Triennale, set to open its doors this November

With invaluable support from SomeFineDayPix , Africa No Filter and various well-wishers, I successfully produced my debut short film, "Grogan’s Lodge" (2023). This psychological thriller delves into the haunting echoes of colonialism in modern-day Kenya. Directed by Isaya Evans and penned by Shaleen Keshavjee, the film is currently making its rounds on the festival circuit, with aspirations to evolve into a full-fledged feature.

In the pursuit of further honing my craft, I underwent an intensive selection process and emerged triumphant with an invitation to join the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in the United Kingdom for their prestigious MA in Creative Producing program.

As a premier institution in the world of film and television, the National Film and Television School (NFTS) stands out for its unwavering dedication to cultivating the next generation of filmmakers. Its illustrious reputation is underscored by an impressive feat: for 13 consecutive years, NFTS has earned a coveted place on the prestigious Hollywood Reporter's list of the top 15 international film schools.

I am immensely proud to announce that I have made history as the FIRST KENYAN EVER accepted into this prestigious MA program.

As I set my sights on this extraordinary two-year opportunity, I find myself in need of your support. Studying abroad comes with a considerable financial burden but through the generosity of my networks and family, I've managed to secure £13,000, which will has been dedicated to my first-year school fees. I am looking to bridge the remaining gap.

The annual Tuition for the course is £26,000 and I am seeking to raise £13,000 to cover the remainder of my tuition as well as an additional £10,000 to sustain my living expenses during the first year.

This financial assistance will be pivotal in my journey to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to produce world-class African stories that resonate globally. My dream is to contribute meaningfully to the African film canon, amplifying the incredible talent from my home country onto the global stage. Enrolling in this MA program is a significant step towards realising this vision.

I extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join me on this incredible journey and be a part of this transformative endeavour. Your contribution, no matter the size, will be cherished and deeply appreciated.

In return for your support, you will be credited on all the three films I will produce during the course as well as on the first feature-length film I make after the course.
