I never thought I’d be writing these words. On Saturday, 28 March, my world changed forever when I lost my brother, Nahom Medhanie, in a senseless act of violence near Euston Station. To the world, he might be a headline, but to me, he was my rock. Everyone who knew Nahom knew he was the life of the room. He had this way of making you laugh even when things were tough, and he was always the most honest person I knew.

Growing up together, he wasn't just my brother he was my best friend and my protector.

Losing him so suddenly has left a hole in our family that can never be filled. Me and my mum are heartbroken, and seeing them like this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face. As his brother, I want to make sure we send him off the right way with the dignity and respect he deserves.

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help our family cover the funeral costs and the unexpected expenses that come with a tragedy like this.

We want to give Nahom a beautiful service where everyone who loved him can come together to remember the amazing person he was.
