Hi everyone!
I graduated from Appalachian State University last year and have been trying to find my way ever since. For quite some time now, I have felt it on my heart to serve as a missionary and do something for others instead of trying to focus on myself. I have been a short-term missionary to Cuba and Dominican Republic in high school which opened my eyes to the extreme poverty and hopelessness in which so many individuals live on a daily basis.
Memories of those two mission trips have followed me and I again felt it on my heart that I wanted to serve the Lord by going to the mission field and helping those in need, but this time on a long-term basis. I am so excited to say that I have accepted an opportunity with Jesus for Asia to be a missionary in Thailand! I will be volunteering at a clinic in the middle of the jungle. This clinic ministers to the local villagers and saves the lives of many since they are typically too far from a hospital to make it alive during an emergency.
We are hoping and praying that I will be able to leave the U.S. in November with the current state of our country. If not, I will keep trying! So far, I am aware that I will need a couple different health screenings before I can enter the country as well as be quarantined for 14 days at a government-approved hotel upon arrival. I know things have become a lot more complicated, but I am confident that if God wants me to go, the doors will open and I will be able to arrive safely.
So far, I am looking at the cost of the visa application process (photos, application fee, postage), airfare and bags, lodging for the 14 days of quarantine, meals during the trip and 14 days, phone service for Thailand, any transportation to my final destination in Thailand, etc.
If you find it in your heart to send your support and help me with the expenses of this trip, it will be greatly appreciated. My time in Thailand will be completely self-supported. I will not be paid as I am going on a volunteer basis to serve those in need.
