Nadja Needs Your Help Now!

I am kicking off a fundraising campaign to help my friend, Nadja Cox, and her family. She’s in a very tough place and needs immediate help! A recent auto accident has left her with multiple injuries and caused her family to be in dire straits financially. She suffers from TBI (traumatic brain injury), which impacts information processes, learning, concentration, memory retention, etc., and has multiple ruptured discs in her lower back and neck.

I believe that when others come together, we can make a big difference in someone’s life – I’m reaching out to you and asking for your help to contribute any amount, big or small (it all adds up), and I know it will make a huge positive impact on the lives of her and her family. It will prevent them from losing their home; it will help keep the power on and support the family – all of which will mean the world to them! $6,900 is the minimum needed, and your donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated, ease the stress, and will encourage the family. Nadja is one of the women in my Bible Study group at church, and we prayerfully support her and know we serve a God who can move mountains!

Nadja has been a full-time student, with only one more semester left to complete classes for a kinesiology associate degree while working on prerequisites to transfer into the PTA (physical therapy assistant) program. She wanted to do more and give hope to her clients as a personal trainer but realized further education was needed. She relied on grants, scholarships, and student loans successfully for the past 2-1/2 years until the accident happened, which turned her world upside-down.

She hasn’t received medical treatment due to insurance issues. The ruptured discs cause symptoms from pinched nerves, burning, and numbness. Sitting or standing can be unbearable. She’s enrolled in the DSPS program, which supports students with disabilities or medical issues. It takes her twice as long to study, etc. And unfortunately, she failed two of her major courses due to the TBI. So now she must appeal to receive financial aid each semester.

After applying for permanent disability, her case was denied. The company representing her was misleading and deceptive, and later, she learned they weren't attorneys, only case managers. After speaking with an attorney in San Diego, she discovered these companies only utilize case managers to run their business for SSI applications and subcontract to attorneys when the hearing date gets close. Her options are now to start over and reapply for disability (another two-year process), but it means she would have to stop attending classes for the PTA program and will continue not being able to work. She has also been informed that there will be no award or compensation for the case regarding the car accident.

She was expecting back pay of $3,000, which would have helped take care of some of the living expenses and bills for this month and September, but she was informed that the funds won’t be paid out until October. She and I recognize that these are unusual circumstances, but it is much more challenging to share with you that she needs your financial help. Rent and some of her utility bills haven’t been paid for almost two months. Her landlord has been gracious, but they will lose their place to live if they don’t pay their rent and get caught up. The housing market has changed drastically this past year, making it difficult to find a place to rent or one that is affordable. We don’t want them to lose their home. Together, we can help by filling in the gap until the long-awaited October comes.

Nadja recently commented to me, “It won’t matter how bad things could get; my heart will praise Him! He has never let us down. This is a whole-nother level of faith.”
