Hi! This is Nadira's wonderful brother writing this little excerpt. As many people may know, Nadira has been accepted and plans on attending Clark Atlanta University in Georgia this fall. Many people may also know that my sister and I have been privileged enough to attend private high schools at the expense of our parents, but keep in mind that that didn't go without its hardships.
I want to acknowledge that GoFundMe's are usually the last resort for last minute funeral expenses, or last minute expenses when someone develops a terminal illness, a tragic accident, the point is, when people see GoFundMe, it is never in celebration, but rather in sadness. My sister has the opportunity to attend a prestigious HBCU that she has dreamt of going to since "8th grade" as she put it. A little girl holding on to a dream that long means it's really special. She is really special. What many people have not seen are the tears of struggle, the tears of pain, and the tears and headaches of her always being cast in my shadow, but we can change that by helping her in the next step of her own journey.
Today, she has the ability to step out into the sun and get her shine on. Nadira hasn't had it easy, in fact, she has had it harder always being compared to me. We are nothing alike and that is what makes her special. She has her own journey, she wants to be successful, she wants to go to Clark Atlanta and to be a CAU Panther, but we need help. We need YOUR help. We need ANY help. College is expensive and despite the efforts to cover tuition, Clark refuses to provide any REAL aid. We are asking for aid, support, and for friends and family to please help or even give Nadira the jumpstart to being the shining star we know her to be. Everyone who knows her knows she would drop whatever she is doing to help you even if she really can't, so if you could, please consider doing the same. Everyone who knows me, knows that I would do anything to see someone else succeed and would drop anything to help someone else be the best version of themselves. My parents did not ask me to do this, in fact nobody asked me to do this, but as we know, it takes a village to raise a child and though she is 18, we need more black women in college classrooms and in our successful world. I am just a big brother who wants to see his little sister succeed and be the best she can be; so please help me help her believe, and trust me, everything helps.
All donations will go primarily towards to tuition, tuition expenses, room & board, and any other expenses incurred from college and that does include traveling!
She leaves August 10th!
