Nadine's Medical Battle

Hello all
My name is Laura and the following is a story of strength, friendship, hope, courage and above all a mother’s love. This is not my story but the story of one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure to call friend, Nadine Clarke.
I met Nadine while she was working as a fitness instructor at our gym. It is here that she, with an incredible talent, would inspire a countless number of people to achieve their own personal health and fitness goals. With such a strong, vibrant and genuine personality it wasn’t too long before we developed a close and caring bond. She has the ability to make a person smile, even during a hard workout.
She has tackled many challenges in her past but, as strong as she is, she now faces the biggest fight of her life and it will require all of our combined faith and strength. She shares a commonality with the Tragically Hip’s lead singer, Gord Downie; she has just been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer.
When the doctor broke the news to her, she reacted like anyone else would, stunned and devastated. But as overwhelming as this news was, it was her next statement that once again showed her inner strength and resilience. “Ok, it is what it is and I am going to fight.” Even while she was in the hospital, awaiting her surgery, she remained positive and even extended comfort to others around her.
Nadine is a 39-year-old single mother with three wonderful children; a 10-year-old son, a 12-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son, and like any other parent, her children are cherished deeply. She wants to protect them, she wants to provide for them and she wants them to lead long, healthy, happy lives.
Many people out there can understand or can relate to the challenges of life with children, but now add to that the challenges of medical bills and cancer treatments. Just the parking alone at a hospital (for radiation therapy 5-6 times per week for 6-7 weeks) takes its toll. Nadine had just started a new job and was only one-month way from obtaining health benefits when she was diagnosed. She is now unable to work, drive, or even save for her children’s future.
Nadine has not asked me to do this, but I’m compelled to do whatever I can to help her and her family. I have never done this before and wasn't even sure where to start but I am sure there are many people out there with warm, caring hearts that feel the same way I do and would love to help.
The money raised here is not just for the immediate necessities for Nadine but to help her children in the future.
I know how incredibly touched and appreciative Nadine and her family will be when we reach out, together, to show we care.
Please see a couple of pictures below of my friend.
