Nacho’s Coyote Attack Recovery Fund

Nacho is my best friend, my travel partner, and my whole world. On Saturday Nov. 19th at 6:27pm a living nightmare began, Nacho was brutally attacked by two coyotes.

They crept out from the dark, cornered him, and thought they had found their prey. If you have met Nacho, you know he is fighter. He held his own and at exactly the right moment he ran directly back to his mama. Once inside as he crawled in my arms I noticed his abdomen injuries.

His belly was torn open, his intestines were hanging out, and he was in great state of shock and distress. Nacho was rushed to the 24 hour ER veterinary hospital where we were told he needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately, this office had no surgeon on call. Nacho was bandaged and sedated and back in my arms as we drive another 30 minutes to the closest emergency vet with a staff member to perform the exploratory. I worried with tears streaming down my face if this would be the last time I would ever be able to hold my little baby.

Nacho was taken right away on arrival to the second office. He was given a 50/50 chance. He went into surgery at 9:08pm, and at 9:53 pm we received a call saying the exploratory found no organ damage. Now we were told he needed to survive the trauma, the pain medications, and a 48 hour monitoring period.

Monday afternoon after a grueling waiting period with an uncertain outcome we receive the call. He was able to come home. And once again he was calmly laying in my arms. Needless to say, he is lucky to be alive, and I have never been more grateful to the universe.

His two emergency visits, emergency surgery, his monitoring, and other veterinary costs totaled at over $8,000. Anything given will go directly to covering the costs from this unexpected horrific ordeal.
