Nacho and Queso Cats BOTH need Surgery Suddenly
Donation protected
Our two oldest babies went to the vet over the last couple of weeks and with Nacho we had some surprises (details below). Queso started with a cough and eye infection and has been twice in the last couple weeks and he's going to need to see an emergency eye doctor and surgery. We normally would never ask for fundraising, but suddenly being faced with around 5k in medical/surgery costs, it's a lot. So only give if you are able. We don't expect anything from anyone, but we appreciate any help that can be given.
Nacho's Diagnosis of Mets Positive Skin Growths (Starting at up-to 1,300) just for surgery:
We took Nacho in last week for a bump on his back, come to find there are many on his body. They did a biopsy and they are mets positive. Luckily they are not throughout internally, but just on the surface and can be removed. There was mention that it's something that can occur again in the future if he has a small trauma to the skin. The sooner he has the surgery, the better, but now we have another emergent situation in the family that has to come and cut the line…
Queso's Emergency Optometrist, and eye surgery:
So two weeks ago, it was simply an eye infection that came along with his upper respiratory infection, but the ointment that we'd been giving him 2x/daily wasn't really helping much, if any, and Tom was really getting worried that something worse was happening, so I made an appt for today. As soon as the doctor saw him, she took out the ophthalmoscope, opened his eye, and you could see what looked like a big blister on his cornea (called a "corneal sequestrum"), and I almost fell back into my chair. It's no wonder he could barely open his eye and it was producing so many tears. She was putting in an emergency consult to an veterinary ophthalmologist, so hopefully they'll call us today, and she also gave him a long-lasting, topical opioid to help with the pain (which almost immediately helped him with his behavior). My heart is just heavy for my little angel, because he's the sweetest baby and wouldn't hurt a fly.
