Dear Family and Friends,
My name is Jesse Plante, and I’m an 18-year-old athlete with a dream of representing Canada in the sport of Skeleton. What once felt out of reach is now becoming possible through hard work, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of my mom.
I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, where opportunities like this weren’t easy to come by. But I refused to let that stop me. After being discovered by Skeleton coaches, I quickly fell in love with the sport. I made the decision to move to Calgary, Alberta, to train at a higher level. Every push, every turn down the track, and every sacrifice I make is in pursuit of one goal—an Olympic dream I won’t let go of.
However, pursuing this dream comes at a cost. Each local race costs $1,500 CAD, and international races are $3,500 CAD. These amounts don’t include travel, accommodation, or food. Additionally, each two-week intensive training camp in Whistler costs $2,000 CAD, and these camps are held monthly.
This is where I humbly ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will directly help me make this dream a reality and represent not only Canada but also Sudbury, Ontario. This sport is more than just a competition; it’s a testament to the idea that no matter where you come from, even the biggest dreams can come true.
Thank you for believing in me. Your support means the world.
With gratitude,
Jesse Plante
