Hello family, friends, and supporters! My name is Naa Lomoley Lomotey, and I am a second-year (P2) student at Howard University College of Pharmacy pursuing my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. My passion lies in serving communities that are often overlooked—whether due to limited resources, systemic inequities, or geographic barriers to care. As a future pharmacist, I hope to use my training to improve health outcomes and expand access to quality care both locally and globally.
This December, I have the opportunity to travel to Ghana for 11 days with the Gold Coast Medical Foundation (GCMF), a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable healthcare in developing countries. While there, I will join other volunteers in providing free health screenings, distributing medications, volunteering at Tetteh-Quarshie Memorial Hospital, hosting food pantries, and offering wound care services in underserved communities. Before the trip, I will participate in cultural sensitivity and public health trainings to prepare for this mission.
As someone born in Ghana with family still living in areas where resources are limited and healthcare is not always accessible, this mission holds personal meaning for me. It represents both a chance to give back to my roots and to contribute toward improving health in underserved communities. However, I need your support! As a volunteer, I am responsible for covering my flight, visa, vaccines, and program fees (which include meals, lodging, and transportation in Ghana).
Roundtrip flights: $1,500-$2,800
Yellow fever vaccine: $170–$240
Ghana visa: $100-$200
Program fees (lodging, meals, transport): $880
My fundraising goal will cover these expenses and allow me to participate fully in this mission. Any contribution—large or small—will bring me closer to serving communities in need and furthering my mission of global health equity.
If you are unable to give financially, that is ok! I most certianly appreciate you for reading my story and invite you to share it amongst your community.
Your generosity will make a lasting impact on both the work I hope to accomplish and the communities in Ghana that will benefit. Thank you sincerely for supporting me on this journey.
